Our Kart Classes

Ages 4-7 Years Old
Kid Kart

This class utilizes the smallest kart chassis with simple, low-maintenance engines to help children become accustomed to driving on a track. The primary intent is to provide a safe, positive environment where kids can practice their skills until they turn 8 and are ready to begin competitive racing. Success in this category relies on active adult involvement, with mentors teaching safety and serving as a positive influence for the eager new racer.
Ages 8-11 Years Old
Junior 1 Briggs

Junior 1 Briggs uses a 'cadet' chassis and reliable Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke engine. The class serves as the bridge between the absolute beginner Kid Kart class and the higher-speed Junior 2 category. Junior 1's use a red restrictor slide and the minimum weight requirement is set at 235lbs.
Ages 12-16 Years Old
Junior 2 Briggs

Junior 2 Briggs utilizes a larger chassis and the same Briggs & Stratton engine as Junior 1 but with more power and speed. Minimum weight moves up to 300lbs and the green slide used in Junior 1 is traded in for a gold one. This class prepares junior drivers for the fast-paced "pro" level of Senior Briggs. Drivers have the option to move up to Senior at 15 or stay in Junior 2 until 16.
Age 15 and Up
Senior Briggs (Light)

The Senior Briggs Light class is the entry point for adult racers in the Briggs & Stratton LO206 category. Because the LO206 engine is a "spec" engine—meaning everyone has the exact same horsepower—the class is primarily defined by its minimum weight limit of 340lbs, which is lower than the "Heavy" division.
Ages 15 and Up
Senior Briggs (Heavy)

The Senior Briggs Heavy class is designed specifically for heavier stature body types or older drivers, ensuring that those with a heavier physical build remain competitive without having to chase unrealistic weight targets.
While it uses the same engine platform and black carb slide as other Senior Briggs class, the difference lies almost entirely in the minimum scale weight of 375lbs and the intended demographic.
Ages 12-15 Years Old
Junior Rotax

Junior Rotax is a high-performance, 2-stroke racing category designed for experienced drivers aged 12 to 15 who are looking for more speed and technical challenge than the Briggs 4-stroke classes. Producing approximately 23 horsepower, these water-cooled karts reach significantly higher speeds and require more physical strength and precise tuning, such as carburetor jetting and fuel mixing. While much more expensive to operate and maintain than the entry-level Briggs class, Junior Rotax serves as the essential stepping stone for young racers moving toward national competition.
Age 15 and up
DD2

While Junior Rotax focuses on 2-stroke momentum for younger drivers, the DD2 class serves as a more powerful, senior-level category that introduces professional "Formula-style" features. The primary differences lie in the hardware: the DD2 uses a 34-horsepower engine with a two-speed paddle-shift gearbox and front brakes, whereas the Junior Rotax is a single-speed kart with rear brakes only. Furthermore, the DD2 eliminates the traditional chain drive for a direct-drive system and requires a specialized chassis to handle the increased weight and speed. DD2 challenges experienced racers to master gear management and the physical demands of a much faster, more complex machine.
